Police: School Employee In NYC Tried To Lure Child To Hudson Valley Hotel

A Brooklyn man who works for a Manhattan elementary school was charged with trying to lure a teenager to a Hudson Valley hotel for sex, state police’s Troop F Child Abuse Unit in Sullivan County said on Friday, March 16.

Abraham Silverberg, 51, an employee at Public School 116, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with third-degree attempted rape and luring a child, both felonies, police said. 

Silverberg also was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.

The state police investigation also revealed that Silverberg engaged in sexual conduct with a child less than 13 years old while residing in Kings County. This information lead to a joint investigation with Troop NYC BCI in Brooklyn.

Silverberg was arraigned in the town of Thompson before Town Justice Martin Miller. He was sent to Sullivan County Jail without bail. 

Charges in Kings County are pending at this time.
