DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. - New York State Police in Dutchess County arrested a 23-year-old man for allegedly abusing mentally disabled men who were in his care.
On Wednesday, following a joint investigation between the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the New York State Justice Center, police arrested Poughkeepsie resident Anthony Dabney for endangering the while of two men in his care while he was working for a Dutchess County facility for people with developmental disabilities.
Police said they launched an investigation earlier this month, when a complaint was filed to the Justice Center, stating that Dabney had left two mentally handicapped men alone in a running vehicle while in the city of Poughkeepsie the day before.
Following the investigation, Dabney was arrested and charged with second-degree endangering the welfare of an incompetent person, a misdemeanor. He was issued an appearance ticket and is due back in the City of Poughkeepsie Court on Tuesday, May 2.
