A Pine Plains man was arrested Tuesday for stealing more than $2,500 in jewelry from a family member's home, according to the New York State Police.
Jason M. Stroly, 22, was arrested by the New York State Police from the Poughkeepsie barracks, along with the Poughkeepsie Bureau of Criminal Investigation, and charged with felony burglary, petit larceny and possession of marijuana, state police said.
Troopers stopped a speeding Subaru Legacy operated by Stroly on the Taconic State Parkway. During the stop, troopers found the pot and the stolen jewelry, police said.
An investigation revealed that Stroly had unlawfully entered a family members’ home located in the Town of Milan and had stolen over $2,500 worth of jewelry. He had also stolen jewelry from a family member who lived in Pine Plains, state police said.
Stroly was arraigned in the Town of Pleasant Valley Justice Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $30,000 cash bail or $60,000 bond.
