Man, Woman Charged After 32 Bags Of Heroin, Crack Found In Beacon

BEACON, N.Y. -- Two Hudson Valley residents were charged with possession of drugs after Beacon Police officers found crack cocaine and heroin during a traffic stop.

Dean Nelson, 41, and Stacie Towles, 46, of Newburgh were busted after officers smelled marijuana during the stop and discovered that Towles, the driver, had an active bench warrant for her arrest, said Beacon Police Chief Douglas Solomon.

During a search of the 2008 Honda Accord, officers uncovered 20 bags of crack cocaine and 12 bags of heroin. Towles also had a small amount of marijuana in her possession, Solomon said.

Towles was turned over the town of Marlborough on the warrant, Nelson is being held at the Dutchess County Jail on $10,000 bail/$20,000 bond.
