Man Punches, Tries To Disrobe Woman At Poughkeepsie Pool, Police Say

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- A local woman was attacked in Spratt Park near the pool while reading a book on Monday, according to the City of Poughkeepsie Det. Lt. Matt Clark.

The woman told police that a white man in his 50s or 60s, with scraggly dirty clothes approached her about 2:45 p.m., punched her in the face and them attempted to tear her clothes off, said Clark.

The victim was able to fight of the man who is described as having a thin build, not tall, with a dark beard with gray in it, he added. 

The attacker fled in an unknown direction, Clark said.
