Michael J. Gonzales, 35, was charged with assault in the second degree, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration in the second degree and other vehicle and traffic violations after police were called to the Inn for a report of an unwanted person at the business and he was later pulled over, police say.
The business manager stated Gonzales acted suspiciously and failed to adhere to the businesses policy by providing his ID. When asked to leave after a disturbance, the manager called police at around 11 p.m. but Gonzales left before they arrived, according to the report.
Approximately one hour later, state troopers stopped a vehicle on Montgomery Street for not having license plates. During the investigation, troopers found out the driver, Gonzales, was the man they were looking for following the disturbance at Beekman Arms Inn. It was also found that Gonzales was wanted by the New York City Department of Environmental Protection, according to police.
Gonzales actively resisted arrest and during the struggle, a trooper sustained injuries and was transported to Northern Hospital for an evaluation, say police.
Gonzales was arraigned at the Village of Rhinebeck Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond. He was due to appear in the Village of Rhinebeck Court Wednesday, according to the report.
