Members of the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a Woodward Hill Road residence in Pine Plains at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon, following reports of a violent burglary at a local home.
The Sheriff’s Office said that upon arrival, it was determined that 31-year-old Poughkeepsie resident Gerald Moore allegedly forced his way into the home, assaulted his victim, caused property damage and stole a cell phone before fleeing from the scene. Further investigation revealed that there was an active Order of Protection against Moore from the victim.
Moore was identified as a suspect and arrested when he returned to the house later in the day.
Following his arrest, Moore was charged with felony counts of second-degree burglary, criminal contempt for violating the Order of Protection and third-degree robbery, all felonies. He has also been charged with misdemeanor counts of criminal mischief, assault, petit larceny and resisting arrest.
Moore was arraigned in the Town of Pine Plains Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond. He is due back in court later this year to answer the charges.
