Former Dutchess County Legislator Convicted Of Sex Abuse

CANTON, N. Y. -- Former Dutchess County Legislator Michael Kelsey could face up to 11 years in prison after he was found guilty in upstate New York by a jury Thursday of five charges of touching and attempting to touch two teen boys, Time Warner Cable News reported.

  • Kelsey's conviction comes after a trial that started earlier in May in which Kelsey was accused of the sexual abuse during a 2014 Boy Scout camping trip to Cranberry Lake. Prosecutors praised the victims for coming forward, Time Warner Cable News said.

Families of the victims cried and hugged each other after the verdict was read. Kelsey's family cried when he was led away in handcuffs, Time Warner Cable News reported.
