A corrections officer who was arrested July 20 by the Town of Poughkeepsie police for felony sexual abuse has been suspended without pay from his job at the Downstate Correctional Facility in Fishkill said corrections officials.
Thomas Angell, 37, was arrested following an investigation into a complaint received on Wednesday, July 12, for an event that took place during a domestic dispute on May 31, according to Capt. Ken Roman.
Angell has been employed as a prison guard at the facility since Nov. 30, 2009, according to Rachel Heath with the Department of Corrections.
She added that he was suspended from his $63,000 a year job without pay effective July 21.
Following his arrest, Angell was sent to the Dutchess County Jail on $20,000 cash bail. He has since posted bail.
