Fire Chief Says Fire At Hudson River Psychiatric Center Was Arson

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- A fire at the former Hudson River Psychiatric Center was determined to be intentionally set, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal.

Fairview Fire District and neighboring agencies were dispatched to the fire at 7:09 p.m. last Wednesday, and discovered that the Cheney Building had an active fire inside the basement, according to the report.

The fire was declared under control at 7:47 p.m. with no reported injuries, the report said. 

EFG/DRA Heritage, LLC, has plans to develop the 156-acre psychiatric site.
