POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- No one was injured in a City of Poughkeepsie fire Sunday on Smith Street fire that broke out on the second floor, according to Deputy Fire Chief Ed Decker.

The blaze at 122 Smith St., began around 3:40 p.m. on the second floor that was packed full of belongings, Decker said.

The nine residents of the two-family home were able to escape without injury and are being offered help by the Red Cross, he added.

Decker said the second floor received the most damage, with the first floor receiving water damage, he added.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The City of Poughkeepsie Fire Department was assisted by the Arlington Fire District and Mobile Life Support Services.
