City Of Poughkeepsie Cops Bust Man With Drugs, Cash, Money

The City of Poughkeepsie Police busted a man from Barbados after finding drugs, guns and money during a warrant search by members of the department's Neighborhood Recovery Unit.

Derick John, 29, was arrested following the search at 6 Balding Ave., first-floor, on Wednesday, following an investigation into illegal drugs sales at that location, said Sgt. Terrence Beam.

Assisted by the Emergency Services Unit, and members of the New York State Police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team, officers recovered and seized approximately 21 grams of cocaine, a loaded .380 caliber handgun, in excess of $8,200, marijuana, and items used in the distribution of controlled substances, Beam said.

John was charged with one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance; criminal possession of a weapon, and one count of unlawful possession of marijuana.

He is being held pending arraignment.
