Beekman, East Fishkill, Pleasant Valley, Milan, Millbrook, Tivoli and Union Vale Fire Departments have all been called in to help.

The Dutchess County Department of Emergency Response worked with the local departments to respond to the intercounty mutual aid request from Ulster County Emergency Services.

Nearly 30 firefighters have responded with a variety of equipment resources, including brush trucks, utility terrain vehicles and support vehicles.

“We have been actively communicating with officials in Ulster County to offer our assistance with controlling the brush fire at Sam’s Point Preserve,” Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro said. “We are grateful to the firefighters from departments across Dutchess County today providing necessary support in battling this massive wildfire.”

Sam’s Point Preserve is in the Shawangunk Mountains and features very thick brush and terrain that is difficult to access.

Hundreds of emergency crews have responded to address the fire that has scorched more than 800 acres.
