POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Willie D. Coston Jr., of Poughkeepsie, died Nov. 24. He was 85.
He was born Sept. 1, 1931, in Troy, Ala., to the late Willie D. Coston Sr. and Elizabeth Kitchen.
He was in the U.S. Air Force and received a National Defense Service Medal.
Coston married Rosa Ann McCullough July 29, 1956, in Ft Walton Beach, Fla.
He was owner of Blossom Painters & Decorators in Staatsburg, retiring in August 2003. He enjoyed driving his Lincoln and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Rosa Ann; children, Sandi Lee Turner (David), Larry Coston, Willie D. Coston III (Carol), Fredrick Coston (Roberta), Lawonda Coston, Geneo Coston (Shana), Tonie Coston (Lisa) and Elizabeth; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Georgia Elliot, Charles Coston (Vicki), Joseph Coston (Lynn), Tony Coston, Gregory Coston (Bobbie), Cathy Griffin and Rhonda Bostick (Michael); and aunt, Rosa Harris.
He was predeceased by a son, Avery Coston; sister, Verdelle Griffin; and two brothers, Clarence Coston and James “Sonny” Coston.
Visitation is from 10-11 a.m. Friday at the Joseph J. Darrow Sr. Funeral Home Inc. 39 S. Hamilton St., Poughkeepsie. Pastor Kenneth Kelly will officiate the funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. Interment to follow in Wappinger’s Rural Cemetery.
