POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- William O. Jaycox, a resident of Poughkeepsie, died Monday, Feb.8. He was 72.
Prior to his retirement, Jaycox worked as the postmaster at the Castle Point post office. He was a former member of the Hughsonville Presbyterian Church in Hughsonville and had been a lifetime member of the Hughsonville Fire Department.
He is survived by a friend of the family with whom he lived, David Kurtz, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents along with his brother Richard Jaycox and sister Virginia Harris.
Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 12, from 7-9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main St., Wappingers Falls. Interment will be in the future in the family plot at Fishkill Rural Cemetery, Route 9, Fishkill.
