Walter E. Gorgas, 80, Of Wappingers Falls

WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. -- Walter E. Gorgas, of Wappingers Falls, died on Dec. 12. He was 80.

Born and raised in New Brighton, Pa., he lived most of his life in Wappingers Falls. Gorgas' first career was a quality engineer for 26 years with IBM. He was a sports enthusiast who was glad to share his insights with any and every one he met. Up until the day of his passing he was a ski instructor at Killington Ski Resort in Vermont. 

In addition to skiing, and during the final years of his life, Walt loved playing tennis and golf, kayaking, swing dancing, ice skating, roller blading and mountain biking. He was also president of the Hudson Valley Ski Club. 

He is survived by his son,  Mark (Rebecca) Gorgas; his daughter, Tamara (Robert) Windheim, Son Scott (Theresa) Gorgas; his brothers, Tom (Doris) Gorgas, Robert (Karen) Gorgas; his 12 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren .

Friends and relatives are welcome to visit from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. with a memorial service at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, at the Delehanty Funeral Home 64 E. Main St., Wappingers Falls.
