POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. —Ruth M. Mead, of Poughkeepsie, died Aug. 9. She was 96.
Born June 6, 1920, in Brooklyn, she resided in Hyde Park for more than 51 years, then moved to an assisted living residence in Poughkeepsie and later into the nursing home.
She was a member Faith Assembly of God Church in Poughkeepsie for more than 45 years and she served for many years as a Sunday school teacher and Rainbow teacher for the children. She also was active in the church choir and music was special to her ministry. Piano was her passion and important to her life. Making melodies to the Lord brought her joy.
She is survived by her three daughters, Helen Pataro, Gertrude Balog and Doris Werbil; son, William S. Mead Jr.; brother, Gerhard Hoss; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and extend family.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes, 7461 S. Broadway, Red Hook. Graveside services and interment will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Red Hook. Procession to the cemetery will form at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. A memorial service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Faith Assembly Of God Church, 254 Spackenkill Road, Poughkeepsie
