POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Poughkeepsie resident Roy G. Lucas Sr. died on Saturday, Feb. 6. He was 74.

He was born in Poughkeepsie orn April 29, 1941 to Charles E. and Olga (Verven) Lucas.

Lucas was a driver for Valeries Trucking. He was a member of American Legion Post 1302, Moose Club, Poughkeepsie Elks No. 275, VFW Post 170 and the Firemen's Exempt.

Lucas is survived by daughter and son in-law Heather and Matt Milne of Poughkeepsie; grandchildren Kiana "Goobie" Gifft and Kascym "Squirt" London; brother Edwin Caswell of Virginia Beach; sister Grace Ferrari of Lagrange; and brother and sister in-law Charles "Chuck" and Judy Lucas of Myrtle Beach, S. C..

He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara Burgess; son Roy "Tiger" Lucas Jr.; brother Brad Lucas; and brother in-law George Ferrari.

Visiting hours will be from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 9, at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave., in Poughkeepsie. A Mass will be celebrated at  10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 10, at Holy Trinity Church, 775 Main St., in Poughkeepsie.

Entombment will be in at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
