Ronald Allen Hollister Sr., 72, Poughkeepsie Resident

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Ronald Allen Hollister Sr., a lifelong area resident, died Friday, Jan. 15 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie following a long illness. He was 72.

Born June 24, 1943, in Pawling, he was the son of the late Homer Edward Hollister and Loretta Hughes Hollister. He was a mechanic at Covanta Energy Corporation in Poughkeepsie for over 25 years until his retirement. His hobbies included bowling, golfing and fishing.

He is survived by his children, Dora Visbeck and husband, Anthony; Ronald A. Hollister Jr. and fiancée, Justi Marvin; Angela Hollister; and John D. Hollister and fiancée, Gloria Vaccarino; grandchildren Kristen Ludwig and husband, Frank; Kayla Visbeck, Dominique and Tanner Hollister; Ron Vespe; and Samantha and Johnna Hollister; great-grandchildren Kelsey, Kara and Kaitlyn Ludwig; siblings Marie Herzfeld and husband, Bernie; Laura Ward and husband, Miguel; Robert Hollister and wife, Shirley; and Geneva Stevens and husband, Ralph; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Walter, William and Edward Hollister.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial calling hours will be held Saturday, Jan. 23 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Route 9, Hyde Park.
