POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Philip L. Bowdler, 74, of Poughkeepsie, died Thursday, Oct. 20.
He was born Oct. 15, 1942, in Kew Gardens, the son of the late Philip T. Bowdler and Valerie R. Leavenworth.
Bowdler was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force from 1960-64. He was employed at IBM as an engineer for 30 years. He also later was employed at Gallagher Bus as a professional driver in Newburgh and Hudson River Truck & Trailer in Poughkeepsie.
He was a member of the Arlington Fire Department, serving as an EMT, the Copper Lake Fishing & Hunting Club, Exempt Firemens Association, Poughkeepsie Yacht Club, Rogers Point Boat Club, Pirate Canoe Club, American Legion Post #1302, Wappingers Jay-Cees and Trackside Blazers Snowmobile Club.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma J.Dunn; children, Steven P. Bowdler and Genevieve Bogdan, Michael T. Bowdler and Kieran Blauvelt and Kathleen J. and Paul DeLano; and grandchildren, Marissa Bowdler and Mariah Falcon.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Delehanty Funeral Home, 64 E. Main St., Wappingers Falls. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Wappingers Rural Cemetery veterans plot.
