Born June 20, 1944, in Shamokin, Pa., she was the daughter of the late George and Rose (Nemsick) Hand.
She had been employed as a teacher at 1st Step Preschool in Beacon until her retirement in 2006. She had been a member of the Zenska Jednota in Shamokin, Pa. and currently was a parishioner at St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Short; sons, Christopher Short, Timothy Short and his wife Dawn and Stephen Short and his wife Heidi Kullmann; and grandchildren, Timothy, Ian and Isabella Short, Kyleigh and Connor Short and Zachary Mesuda.
Calling hours will be from 9-11 a.m. Saturday at the McHoul Funeral Home Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by a funeral service at 11. Burial will follow at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
