POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Najah Jeanette Fowler Abbott, also known as "Precious" and "Slick," died on Sunday, Feb. 14. She was 24.

Born in New London, Connecticut, Abbott attended Spackenkill schools. She graduated from Franklin Delano Roosevelt High school and attended Dutchess Community College, until she became ill.

Abbott is survived by her mother, Kimberly Abbott; grandfather Andrew Abbott; aunt Andrea Abbott; special friend Kimisha Walters of Florida; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her grandmother, Cornelia Johnson Abbott.

Visiting hours will be from 10-11 a.m on Friday, Feb. 19, at Smith Metropolitan AME Zion Church, 124 Smith St., in Poughkeepsie. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., with Rev. Dr. H. Dwight Bolton officiating. Cremation will follow, at the request of the family. Joseph J. Darrow Sr. Funeral Home, in Poughkeepsie, is assisting with arrangements.
