POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y -- Melvina Marie Joyner, of Poughkeepsie, died on March 7. She was 54.
Joyner was born May 21, 1962 in Poughkeepsie, to Martha Marie Thompson and the late Melvin Thompson. She attended City of Poughkeepsie Elementary Schools. She left New York when she was 13 to reside in Burlington, VT where she completed her High School Education.
Joyner attended Burlington College where she graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Sociology. Her education also included training as a CNA, working in several health care facilities.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her children; Kyon Johnson of Oneonta, Keesha Johnson, Jaruis Johnson and Mauda McClinton, all of Pougkeepsie.
