Mary E. Houseknecht, 85, Of Wappingers Falls

WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. -- Mary E. Houseknecht,, 85, of Wappingers Falls, died Saturday, Nov. 28 at Lutheran Care Center in Poughkeepsie.

She was the daughter of the late Harry and Agnes Armstrong McKelvey. She was born May 22, 1930, in New Paltz.

In 1955, she married Karl Houseknecht, who predeceased her in 2009.

Survivors include her children, Patricia Gierloff and her husband John of LaGrange; Karl J. Houseknecht of Kingston; her brother John McKelvey of Newburgh; her granddaughter Sarah Shattuck and her husband Robert of Pleasant Valley; her great-granddaughters, Amber and Karli Shattuck; her cousin, Janis Flood of Walden; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brother Harry McKelvey.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main St., Wappingers Falls.
