Margaret Whalen, 92, Poughkeepsie Resident

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Margaret Mary Catherine Amoroso Whalen died on Sunday, Feb. 7. She was 92.

She was born on Staten Island, N.Y. on Oct. 18, 1923, to Margaret Earley and Nicholas Amoroso.

Whalen graduated from St. Peter's High School on Staten Island and attended Hunter College in New York City. She was a financial accountant for several local businesses throughout the years, including the Children's Home of Poughkeepsie.

Whalen is survived by her children, Maureen Whalen Stotland, Daniel Whalen and David Whalen; grandchildren Sarah Whalen Flanagan, Corey Whalen, Joseph Whalen, Danielle Whalen, Sheila Decker and John Robinson; five great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Daniel Whalen.

Visiting hours will be from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 11, at the William G. Miller & Son Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave., in Poughkeepsie. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. at the family plot in St. Mary's Cemetery, in Wappingers Falls.
