Leonard O. Kistner, 76, Poughkeepsie Resident

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. — Poughkeepsie native Leonard O. Kistner, of Walton, N.Y., died on Monday, May 9. He was 76.

He was born Jan. 14, 1940 in Poughkeepsie, to Otto S. Kistner Jr. Dorothy E. Dimick. 

Kistner graduated from Arlington High School and served in the U.S., Army receiving an honorable discharge. 

He was the proprietor of L & O Sanitation then sold the business and was a bartender at Doc’s Hollow in Millbrook. 

He joined Local 1000 as a laborer and later became proprietor of Automatic Insect Control Systems in Poughkeepsie before retiring. 

Kistner is survived by his wife, Sandy; daughters Wanda Buss and Laura Phoenix; grandchildren; Amanda and Austin Phoenix; a brother, Bernard and his wife CarlaLisa Kistner; a sister, Marie and her husband Arno Frank.

He was pre-deceased by his brother, Raymond Kistner.

Visitation is Thursday, May 12, at 9:15 a.m. at the Joseph J. Darrow Sr. Funeral Home Inc., 39 S. Hamilton St., Poughkeepsie.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Thursday, at Holy Trinity Church, with interment in the family plot at Calvary Cemetery in Poughkeepsie.
