BEACON, N.Y. -- Leona Alberti Quick, of Beacon, died Sept. 2 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. She was 89.
She was born Aug. 10, 1927 in Windham.
She worked as a staff nurse at Beth El Hospital in Brooklyn, Margaretville Hospital in Margaretville and St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie. She also was the office nurse for Dr. Dreishpoon, Dr. Stall and Dr. Cohen in Poughkeepsie.
She enjoyed the occasional Stinger, along with traveling, fishing and golfing with her husband. She was a former member of Osiris Country Club in Walden and Southern Dutchess Country Club in Beacon. She was a hospice volunteer from 1996 to 2005.
Survivors include her daughter, Joyce Montague and her husband Joseph of Hopewell Junction; grandchildren, Michael Montague and his wife Elizabeth of Manhattan and Lisa DeMeo and her husband Anthony of Poughkeepsie; and great-granddaughters, Marguerite and Alivia Leigh DeMeo.
Calling hours will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main St., Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John the Evangelist Church, 35 Willow St., Beacon followed by interment in St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery in Gardiner.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
