POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. — Poughkeepsie resident Josephine L. De Michiel died Sunday, May 1. She was 98.
Educated at local schools, De Michiel was a homemaker and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She enjoyed playing bingo, going to Atlantic City casinos and watching the New York Yankees.
De Michiel is survived by her sons and their spouses; Michael J. and Susan De Michiel, John De Michiel, Joseph and Robin De Michiel; daughter, Mary De Michiel of Poughkeepsie; brother, Chester and his wife Joan Wojtecki of Poughkeepsie; grandchildren, John, Gregory, Alicia, Renee, Laura and John Panessa; great-grandchildren Oliver, Eleanor, Jonathan, Kayleigh and Dylan; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Amilcare "Mike" De Michiel; parents Benjamin and Adela Marks; brothers Edward and Stanley Wojtecki; and sisters Gladys Pinello, Helene Seel, Jean Shultz, Amelia "Minnie" Rinaldi, Genevieve "Fefa" Kohout and baby sister Loretta Wojtecki.
There are no calling hours.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Church, 9 Lafayette Place, Poughkeepsie. Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
