Joseph P. Cascio, Sr., 84, Of Beacon

BEACON, N.Y. – Joseph P. Cascio Sr., a ten-year resident of Beacon, formerly of Virginia Beach, Mahopac, and Westchester County, died Friday, March 11. He was 84.

Cascio was a Korean War Veteran and joined the U.S. Army in 1951 and remained on active duty until being honorably discharged in 1954. He was in the 45th Infantry Thunderbird Division. For 30 years, he worked for the North Tarrytown school disctrict’s maintenance department. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 5491 in Mahopac, American Legion Post 203 in Beacon, and the V.F.W. Post 1939 Fife, Drum and Bugle Corps in Tarrytown. He was also a volunteer for the Union Hose Engine 86 Co. 2 in Sleepy Hollow and the Ossining Fire Company. He was a Scoutmaster for the B.S.A. and member of the Knights of Columbus as well. He served as an usher for many parishes including Immaculate Conception Church in North Tarrytown, St. John’s Church in Mahopac, and St. Anne’s Church in Ossining.

He is survived by his wife, Adeline; his sons, Russell J. Cascio and his wife, Deborah, of Wappingers Falls; Joseph P. Cascio and his wife, Judy, of Beacon; Peter J. Cascio and his wife, Jennifer, of Virginia Beach; his daughter, Philomena Kyle and her husband, Brian, of Beacon; his grandchildren, Christopher Cascio; Tara Cappelli; Stephanie Cappelli; Siobhan Kyle; Dylan Kyle; Brookelynn Kyle; Devin Smith; Addie Cascio; Katie Cascio; Holly Lynn Young and her husband, Phillip; Eddie Bennett and his wife, Sarah; his great grandchildren, Warren; Jessica; Noel; Alexandria; Kayla; Karleigh; Andrew; and Mason; along with many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was predeceased by his brother, Luciano Cascio; his sisters, Marie DeJulio and Rose PEttruzzi.

There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 18 at the Wappingers Rural Cemetery on Route 9D in Wappingers Falls.
