POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. — Poughkeepsie resident John Thomas Quinn Sr. died on Monday, May 2. He was 68.
He was born on Sept. 17, 1947, in North Tarrytown to Clement and Gertude Kane Quinn.
He graduated from Stepanic High School in White Plains and Fordham University.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army after graduating from college in 1967 and retired from the New York Army National Guard in 1994 as a master sergeant.
During the time he was in the National Guard, Quinn worked for the U.S. Post Office for 40 years and was postmaster in in Wappingers Falls before retiring in 2009.
Quinn is survived by his children Bridget Quinn and her husband, Andrew Sorkin of Wappingers Falls, Patrick Liam Quinn and his companion Diana Miller, and Kathleen Siobhan Quinn of Poughkeepsie.
He also is survived by grandchildren Elijah Liam Quinn and Clara Grace Quinn.
He was predeceased by his son, John T. Quinn Jr.
Friends may call on Thursday, May 5 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at Robert H. Auchmoody Funeral Home, 1028 Main St., in Fishkill.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 6, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson St., in Fishkill.
Interment will be private at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
