POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- John Joseph Walsh Sr., a resident of Poughkeepsie, died Wednesday, Feb.10. He was 86.
Walsh was born Oct. 7, 1929, in Poughkeepsie, to Robert Walsh and Dorothy Zeleznik.
Walsh served in the U.S. Army from 1951-53. He also worked for Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corporation for 40 years retiring in 1993.
He is survived by his children, Vera Walsh of Poughkeepsie, Elaine Hodgdon of Hyde Park, Kathleen Zubrycki and her husband, Cliff of Rhinebeck, John J. Walsh Jr. of Hyde Park, Patricia Doolittle and her husband, Roy of Longwood, Fla., Patrick Walsh and his wife, Denise of Hyde Park, Christine O’Dell and her husband, Michael of Hyde Park, Gregory Walsh of Hyde Park, and Mary Walsh of Poughkeepsie; several grandchildren, great- grandchildren,
He is also survived by his brothers Robert, Joseph, Frank and Vincent.
He was predeceased by his wife Ann S. Feldsine, and another brother Thomas.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, Feb.16, 2016, at 10 a.m., at Our Lady of the Rosary Church. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery 171 Salt Point Turnpike Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
