John J. Cahill Jr., 82, Of Fishkill

FISHKILL, N.Y. -- John “Jack” J. Cahill Jr., a longtime resident of Fishkill, died Sunday, July 24, 2016 at Calvary Hospice in the Bronx. He was 82. 

Cahill was born Feb. 17, 1934, in Poughkeepsie, the son of the late John J. Cahill Sr. and Helen E. Maroney Cahill. 

He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War from 1951-54. On May 10, 1958, he married the former Rosemarie McDermott; she predeceased him May 29, 2015. 

Cahill retired from IBM in East Fishkill, where he was a masks manager. He was a life member of St. Rocco’s Society in Beacon and a life member of the East Hook Sportsmen Association. 

He is survived by his sons, Scot Cahill of Chelmsford, Mass. and Mark A. Cahill of Pittsburgh, Pa.; granddaughter, Brandi Fisher; great-grandson, Gabriel Cuello; daughter-in-law, Judy Cahill of Saratoga Springs; brother, James E. Cahill and his wife Nina of Beacon; sisters, Jane Rose of Poughquag and Helen C. Nuccitelli and her husband Paul of Beacon; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. 

In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his daughter, Lisa Cahill-Pierce in 2012; son, John Cahill III in 2013; and sister, MaryAnn Haley.

The family will receive their friends from 4-6 p.m. Thursday at the Halvey Funeral Home Inc., 24 Willow St., Beacon. A funeral service will be conducted at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
