Jennifer Curry, 17, Poughkeepsie Native

Jennifer Lynn Curry, 17, a Poughkeepsie native and BOCES student, died Thursday, June 22, at the Health Alliance Hospital Broadway Campus, after being hit by a car in Kingston.

According to the Ulster County Sheriff's Office, Jennifer was struck by a 69-year-old woman as she was walking north on the shoulder of Lucas Avenue. 

Mobile Life Support services transported her to Health Alliance Broadway Campus where she later died.

Born in Poughkeepsie on Dec. 7, 1999, to Susan Wilcox Curry and the late David Swartz, Jr., Jennifer loved to sing and was known for her great sense of humor and love to laugh to everyone. 

She was a student of cosmetology at Ulster BOCES, planning to graduate next year.

She is survived by her grandmother, Shelby Tedone, whom she has lived with for the past three years; grandfather Robert Lee Tinsley; brother Kyle Curry; aunts Patricia Tinsley and Arlene Louis; uncle Troy Swartz; cousin LaVonna Naccarato, and many other aunts uncles, cousins and friends.

A visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home, Inc., 27 Smith Ave., Kingston. Prayers will end the visitation at 8 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of contributions to The Boys and Girls Club of Kingston.
