POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Jean Elizabeth Kirchner, a resident of Poughkeepsie, died Thursday, June 2. She was 86.
Born in Jan.27, 1930, in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Mary Shields McClure of Belfast, Ireland.
She was employed by St. Francis Hospital for 23 years, before her retirement in 1993, and has been a resident of Hyde Park since 1969. On March 3, 1973, she married Jack Kirchner, who predeceased her August 17, 1998.
She is survived by four children, David Engles and wife Silva, Karen Dalley and husband Edwin, Brian Engles and wife Lisa Pecchia Engles and John Engles and wife Maria; three step-children, Scott Kirchner, Brett Kirchner and wife Allison and Dawn Kirchner; brother, Denis J. McClure and wife Kathleen; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and step-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Sweet’s Funeral Home, Route 9, Hyde Park. Friends and family will gather promptly at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Sweet's Funeral Home Inc., Route 9, Hyde Park and process to The Community Mausoleum Chapel at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery. Father Patrick Curley will officiate.
