BEACON, N.Y. – James V. O’Donnell, a longtime resident of Beacon, died Thursday, April 7, at The Pines at Poughkeepsie. He was 90.
He was born in Beacon on Jan. 23, 1926, the son of the late Hugh James and Catherine Powell O’Donnell. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He married the former Emma Supranowicz. She predeceased him in 1995. He retired from Texaco Research Center in Glenham. He was a parishioner of St. Joachim-St. John the Evangelist Church. He enjoyed bowling and was inducted into the Mid-Hudson Bowling Hall of Fame.
He is survived by his children, Stephen O’Donnell and his wife, Kathleen, of Culver City, Calif., and Lynne Darrah and her husband, Gilbert of Wallkill; his granddaughter, Kelly Boccard and her husband, James; his great-grandchild, Evan Boccard; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his brother, William O’Donnell.
The family will receive friends Sunday, April 10, from 3-7 p.m. at Halvey Funeral Home Inc., 24 Willow St., Beacon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, April 11, at 10 a.m. at St. Joachim Church, 51 Leonard St., Beacon. Burial with military honors will follow at Fishkill Rural Cemetery, 801 Route 9, Fishkill.
