WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. -- James L. McCluskey, a resident of Wappingers Falls for 49 years, died Friday, March 25. He was 75.
He was born April 2, 1940, in Philadelphia, to the late Thomas and Marjorie McLaughlin McCluskey.
He graduated from Drexel University and went on to attend New York University. He worked as an engineer with IBM for 35 years, retiring in 2001. He worked in Poughkeepsie, Fishkill and six months in 1971-72 in Germany as a special liaison.
He was a parishioner of St. Mary's Church in Wappingers Falls, where he was an usher at the 7:30 Mass. He also attended Mass at Mount Alvernia and the Monastery of the Poor Clares, both in Wappingers Falls.
He is survived by his wife, Joan; his brother, Thomas McCluskey (Mary) of Port St. Lucie; his sisters, Nancy Gross of Ocean City and Shelia Rudisill (William) of Charlotte; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Clement and Owen; and sisters, Eileen Curry and Marjorie Lynch.
The family will receive their friends from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main St., Wappingers Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Church, 11 Clinton St., Wappingers Falls. Entombment will follow in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, South Avenue, Poughkeepsie.
