WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. -- Helen T. Blackburn, of Wappingers Falls, died Sunday, July 31. She was 90.
She was born March 1, 1926, in Troy.
She worked for General Electric for several years until she went on to lovingly raise her nine children. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, writing poetry and painting.
She is survived by her children, Lynn A. Kovacs, Nancy E. Cornell, Maureen Donnelly, Diane P. Thorn, Carole J. Burnett, Annemary Schiavone, Kathleen Cano, James G. Blackburn and Brian T. Blackburn; grandchildren, Scott, Tricia, David, Peter, Christina, Steven, Catherine, Kristy, Erik, Michael, Lisa, Dennis, Kevin, Andrew, Brianne, Adam, Carey, Benjamin and Miranda; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive their friends from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main St., Wappingers Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel of St. Peter's Parish, 99 Inwood Ave., Poughkeepsie. Interment will follow in the family plot at St. Mary's Cemetery in Wappingers Falls.
