POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Harrison R. Ward, 82, passed away quietly Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie.
Born July 1, 1928, he was a native of Brooklyn. Ward proudly served in both the U.S Navy and Marine Corps for more than 20 years, and later settled into civilian life as a mortgage processor for Morgan Guarantee Bank in New York City.
A lover of water and sports, he could be found indulging his passions for boats, swimming and bike riding. Ward also liked to keep current on politics and world events. In addition, he contributed generously to the charities he believed in, including St. Jude Children's Hospital.
He is survived by his daughter, Christine Ward, of Poughkeepsie.
He was predeceased by his mother, Alice Ward; aunt, Bridgette Snell; and cousin, George Snell.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation will take place and his ashes will be placed in the columbarium wall in Long Island National Cemetery in Farmingdale. A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Sweet's Funeral Home, Route 9, Hyde Park.
