POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. — Franz "Opa" Breckwoldt, 89, of Poughkeepsie, died Sunday, Oct. 9.
The son of the late Theodore and Lissetta Breckwoldt, he was born Sept. 5, 1927 in Hamburg, Germany.
Breckwoldt owned and operated Frank's Deli in the Bronx until their retirement.
He is survived by his wife, Hildegard Brehmer; children, Pete Breckwoldt and his wife Vicki and Rita Wilson and her husband Larry; brother, Jochen Breckwoldt; grandchildren, Michael Breckwoldt, Tommy Breckwoldt, Lauren Donohue, Stephanie Wilson, Jennifer Loper, Jaclyn Breckwoldt, Jessica Breckwoldt and Monika Wilson; and many great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 4:30-7 p.m. Wednesday at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main St/, Wappingers Falls. A memorial service will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. during the visitation at the funeral home.
