POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Florence B. Velie, a lifelong area resident, died Wednesday, April 13, at Northern Dutchess Hospital. She was 84.
She was born Jan. 12, 1932, in Poughkeepsie, to Charles and Myrtle Barnes Near. In 1975, she married John Velie. She was a homemaker.
Florence is survived by her children, Vicki Halbison and husband, David, of Katy, Texas, Donnie Wilson of Hyde Park, and Tracey Wilson of Poughkeepsie; three grandchildren, Tonia Wilson, Dana Lewis, and Denise Rowlett; two great grandchildren; and a sister, Shirley Crueger of Florida.
Her husband died in 1977. She also was predeceased by two sisters, Pat and Dot; and a brother, Charles.
Arrangements were handled by Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Route 9, Hyde Park.
