POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Elias Nesheiwat of Poughkeepsie, died on Tuesday, March 21. He was 76.
Nesheiwat was born in Salt, Jordan on Jan 6, 1941, the son of Issa and Sabha Nesheiwat. He was an entrepreneur that owned an Express Citgo for over 45 years and a pillar of the community, retiring in 2011.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children; daughter and son-in-law, Iman and Ghassan of Florida, son and daughter-in-law Aiman and Samira Nesheiwat of Poughkeepsie, and son Issa, son and daughter-in-law Firas and Wafaa of Poughkeepsie, daughter and son-in -law Nancy and Simon Michail. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Sophia , Teresa, Elias,Ramon, Olivia, Lucas, Noor, Jospeh, John, Anthony, Mathew and great grand children Domenick and Julianna.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 23, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at St. James Antiochian Church on Violet Ave. in Poughkeepsie.
The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 24, at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Church and burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery.
