POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. — Edward L. Plog , 88, of Poughkeepsie, died Oct. 2.
He was born Sept. 27, 1928, in Poughkeepsie, to the late Lawrence and Kaite Morse Plog.
He graduated from Poughkeepsie High School and went on to serve his country proudly with the Army during the Korean War.
After his time in the service, he received his bachelor’s degree from SUNY New Paltz. He enjoy many years of teaching students at Arlington Central School District, until his retirement in 1988.
He was a member of the Triune –Obed Lodge # 782 of the Free and Accepted Masons and the Independent Order of the Odd Fellows. He also was a member of the Arlington Teachers Association, Arlington Retired Teachers Association, New York State Teachers Association and of the Retired Association of Dutchess County Retired Teachers. He was a parishioner at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection in Hopewell Junction, a past Vestry Member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and a member of the Kagyu Thubten Choling Monastery.
He was predeceased by his brother, Lawrence T. Plog Jr.
Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Robert H. Auchmoody Funeral Home, 900 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A funeral Mass will be offered at 11 a.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, 182 Route 376, Hopewell Junction. Interment will follow in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
