HOPEWELL JUNCTION - Don Kissane, who served as an East Fishkill fire policeman, died peacefully at home on Thursday, Nov. 3. He was 84.
Kissane, who retired from Texaco in 1994, was also a lieutenant in the Wiccopee Fire Company, a member of the Dutchess County Volunteer Fire Police Association, the Dutchess County Fire Response Team, and the Putnam-Westchester Fire Police Association.
He was predeceased by his wife Pat to whom he was married for 61 years; his parents, John and Mary; and his brother and sister, John and Ann.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Monica Kissane and Rock Nadeau of Freeport, ME; his son and daughter-in-law, John and Patti Kissane of Wappingers Falls; his grandchildren, Brian and Daniel Kissane of Wappingers Falls, Chris Bauer and his wife, Karen of Las Vegas, NV; Sara Alexander and her husband Chris of Sammamish, WA; his great-grandchildren, Kevin, Sean and Emily Alexander; and his beloved nieces and nephews.
"We are saddened to hear of the passing of East Fishkill Fire Policeman Don Kissane," the East Fishkill Police Department said in a statement. "We appreciate the many years of Don's professionalism as we worked with him at many fire and accident calls over the years. Our sympathy to Don's Family and the members of the EFFD."
He was born in New York City and attended Sacred Heart School, Samuel Gompers High School and Dutchess County College.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian of Burial will be offered on Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. Interment will follow at St. Denis Cemetery.
