Daniel Thomas Lynch, 95, Fishkill Resident

FISHKILL, N.Y. – Daniel Thomas Lynch, a resident of Fishkill, formerly of Passaic, N.J.,, died Thursday, Jan. 14. He was 95.

He was born to Daniel T. Lynch and Jane Moran Lynch.

Upon the death of his sister, Regina Woodruff, in 2004, he moved to Fishkill to be near family. 

Lynch was a World War II veteran. As a result of military action in the Pacific, he was awarded several action and campaign medals. 

His wife, Mildred Wenzel Lynch, died in 1950. They had five daughters, the oldest being just six years old at the time. He and his sister, Regina, a widow herself with a young son, pooled resources and parented six children. 

He was employed as a shift manager for more than 25 years at Tenneco Paper Co. in Clifton, N.J. Upon retirement, he worked as a courier for First National Bank of Clifton. 

He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 200, serving as past commander and a member of the Knights of Columbus in Passaic for more than 65 years. He supported his Parish of St. Nicholas in Passaic, N.J.

Survivors include daughters Diane Campbell (David) of Phoenix, Ariz.; Maureen Gage (Bill) of Hopewell Junction; Marianne Willis (Blaisdell) of Kennesaw, Ga; and Sara Jane Lombardi (Joseph) of Marietta, Ga.; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his youngest daughter Mildred G. Lynch; one brother and six sisters.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., Route 82, Hopewell Junction. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will follow immediately at noon at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Nicholas Church, 153 Washington Ave., Passaic, NJ 07055.
