Claudine Lavoie, 43, Of Beacon

BEACON, N.Y. -- Claudine Lavoie, 43, of Beacon, died Oct. 24. 

She was a department manager for Michael’s in Livonia, Mich.. She was a graduate of John F. Kennedy Catholic High School in Somers, and SUNY Potsdam, where she received a degree in fine art. She made art in many forms, including oil pastels, oil painting, metalsmithing, jewelry making and digital art. 

She spent two years volunteering with Capuchin Franciscan Volunteer Corp in Milwaukee and Detroit. During her illness, she strove to reach out to people in person and online through her gift of writing and compassion. 

She is survived by her mother and step-father, Mary and Michael Cahill; sister, Jennifer Lavoie; half-brothers, Steven Lavoie and his wife Joyce and Chris Lavoie and his wife Nena; step-brothers, Michael Cahill Jr. and his wife Debbie and Steven Cahill; step-sister, Linda Herlihy and her husband Kevin; and several nieces and nephews. She also considered her friends in the SCA and her co-workers at Michaels her family by choice. 

She was predeceased by her father, Stanley Lavoie; half-brother, Michael Lavoie; step-sister, Patricia Cahill; and sister-in-law, Rosemarie Cahill. 

Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Robert H. Auchmoody Funeral Home, 900 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at noon Saturday at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 62 Mill St., Dover Plains. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Beacon.
