Arthur George, East Fishkill Emergency Responder, 68

EAST FISHKILL, N.Y. -- Arthur "Artie" Richard George, 68, an area resident since 1997, and longtime East Fishkill emergency responder, died Wednesday at Rosary Hill Home in Hawthorne.

He previously lived in Carmel, Yonkers, and the Bronx.

Born in the Bronx on Dec. 14, 1948, he was the son of the late Arthur and Winnifred (Kernan) George. George worked as an electrician for Local 3 IBEW in Queens for 30 years until his retirement in 1999.

George was a dedicated volunteer of the Stormville Fire Company of the East Fishkill Fire District since 1998, where he spent countless hours driving the ambulance. 

The Members of the East Fishkill Police said on their Facebook page: "Artie was a friend and supporter of our department and gave many years of dedicated service to the residents of East Fishkill."

George was a parishioner at St. Columba Church, and previously went to St. John the Evangelist in Mahopac, St. James the Apostle in Carmel, and St. Benedict's in the Bronx.

He is survived by his wife, Jane McClintock George; his children, Christopher George (Carol); SheriAnn Oakes (Dave);  Anthony George (Stephanie); SamanthaLeigh George; his grandchildren, Christina Oakes, Adrianna Oakes, Joseph Oakes, Christopher George, Jr., Sean George, and Rodel George; his siblings and their spouses, Richard (Rosalie) George; Amy (Nick) Bednarski, Cory (Phil) Masullo, Laura (Louis) Bartolotti., and James George; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He is also survived by his faithful dogs, Jack and Cheyenne.

Calling hours will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. 

The fire company will conduct a service at 8 p.m. on Friday. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.
