She was born April 12, 1941 to Hugo and Anne Mileo. She grew up in the Bronx, surrounded by a wonderful family with strong ties that continue to this day. She attended Christopher Columbus High School and later graduated from NYU.

She met her future husband Stephen in a ski club and they quickly fell in love and settled down in Poughkeepsie to make their family. In 2010, they moved to Arbor Ridge in Rhinebeck where she continued to enjoy doing artwork and flower arranging after losing Stephen in 2012.

She was a dedicated teacher at Poughkeepsie High School and Dutchess Community College, including serving as head of the Social Studies Department at Poughkeepsie High. She considered her years with her high school students as some of her most important and enjoyable.

She is survived by her sons, John (Jenna) and Daniel (Caroline); and grandchildren, Greta, Luke, Celia and Emeline; brothers, Leonard, Vincent and Hugo; and her sister Roxanne, who predeceased her.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, Dec. 23, at 11 a.m., at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on Mansion Square in Poughkeepsie. Arrangements are under the direction of William G. Miller & Son Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie.
