Town Of Poughkeepsie Human Remains Case Cause Of Death Determined

A 49-year-old local man has been identified as the person whose remains were uncovered near the intersection of Route 44 and 55 in the Town of Poughkeepsie on Wednesday, Sept. 27.

The Dutchess County Medical Examiner's Office said the man killed himself by hanging, according to Dr. Dennis Chute.

"His death was a suicide," Chute said.

The remains were recovered at around 10:15 a.m. near Arthur May School, prompting a heavy police response.
