'Sexually Violent' Sex Offender Reports Move Within Poughkeepsie

A registered "sexually violent and predicate" sex offender convicted of attempting to sodomize a 9-year-old boy has reported an address change in Dutchess County.

The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert on Thursday to Dutchess residents regarding the residency of 46-year-old Frank Babcock, who has moved to a residence on Snow Terrace in Poughkeepsie.

The Division of Criminal Justice Services has assigned Babcock as a Level 3 threat, which means he is a “high-risk repeat offender and possible threat to public safety.” He has also been designated as a sexually violent and predicate sex offender.

According to the Division of Criminal Justice Services, Babcock attempted to sodomize his victim in August 1997, he was convicted later that year and sentenced to a term between three and six years in state prison after being arrested by the Ellenville Village Police Department. He is now under the jurisdiction of the Poughkeepsie Town Police Department.
