A registered "sexually violent" offender convicted of having sexual contact with a 4-year-old girl has reported a move in Dutchess County.
The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert on Tuesday to Dutchess residents regarding the residency of 52-year-old Erik Midtskogen, who has moved to a residence on Maple Street in Poughkeepsie.
The Division of Criminal Justice Services has assigned Midtskogen as a Level 2 threat, which means he is at "moderate risk of a repeat offense." He has also been designated as a sexually violent offender.
According to the Division of Criminal Justice Services, Midtskogen had sexual contact with his victim in 2005 and was convicted of first-degree course of sexual contact with a minor in 2008. He was sentenced to five years in state prison. Midtskogen is now under the jurisdiction of the Poughkeepsie City Police Department.
